This page outlines the article naming policy for AQWiki.

Contents

Namespaces

This policy applies to all articles existing under the default namespace. For information about what articles should exist under the various namespaces, see the content guidelines.

Title Conventions

Articles should be named by the title of the subject of the article. Conventional title capitalization rules apply: The first and last words should be capitalized and every word in between except for articles, prepositions, and conjunctions. CamelCase conventions should not be used.

Disambiguations

Articles having different level variants such have their specific level encased in parenthesis. For example, see BURP (2) and BURP (10).

Articles that have the same names but have different subjects should also be disambiguated using parenthesis. For example, see Artix Krieger (NPC) and Artix Krieger (7).

Article variants should have a base disambiguation article containing links to each of the variants. It should always have a {{disambig}} at the bottom and include the {{multi}} template if there any level variants. For example, see BURP.

Locales

Redirects should be created for different locale spelling conventions, however the article itself should be named using the en-US locale. For example, all articles with armour should redirect to the spelling using armor.

Abbreviations

If a commonly used abbreviation exists for an article and the abbreviation is not used by any other article, a redirect should be created for it. If an abbreviation may mean multiple articles, create a disambiguation page for it instead.

All abbreviation articles should be categorized under Category:Abbreviations.

Policy execution

This policy applies to new articles as well as articles that existed prior to the first revision of this policy on January 14, 2008. Previous articles that do not follow the convention should be moved over redirect to the correct title.
