Moglins

Moglin is a race of creatures from the online RPG AdventureQuest they are generally less than 4 feet in height have long ears, small feet, and a thorax which is generally bright colored.

The apperance of the thorax has been described by some as similar to that of a Teddy Bear. Others have compared their appearance to the Mogwai, noting that the creatures undergo a similar transformation as Mogwai do when becoming gremlins though the causitive agent of transformation for Moglin's differs from that of Mogwai and does not seem to be universal in it's effect.

Moglin frequently employ wooden staves and are rarely seen without this or some similar item such as a spear.

Most Well Known Moglins

  1. Twilly - Twilly is the first moglin you will see, this is because, firstly, he helps you create your character, secondly, he is on a hill next to a tree when looking over the village of Battleon. Twilly can fully heal you and help you get adventuring!
  2. Zorbak - Zorbak is an "EBIL" moglin Necromancer who is nasty, he never seems to run out of plans to do ebil things, he can also join you in battle though.
  3. Kabroz - While Zorbak is merely ebil, Kabroz is pure evil. Kabroz is the diabolical older brother of Zorbak.
  4. Twig - a small younger moglin that is always teleporting.
  5. Chico- A cowardly moglin who accompanies you while traveling in Darkovia forest.
  6. Poelala - A moglin that accompanies you in a few quests and can be summoned with a spell
  7. Mogleets - Two moglins that can accompany you if you are a guardian. Found in Stonerule and can freeze enemies.

Behavior

The moglins live everywhere in Battleon, but primarily in the village of Rugglum. Like Mogwai, they are shy, home-caring, and friendly toward other friendly creatures. But some can also be grouchy (moglin in Granemor), ugly and mute (Inn in Graemor), or even ebil (and nutty) Zorbak and evil Kabroz.

There are also war-like moglins which are summoned by a spell or the Mogleet, which will fight beside you if you are a Guardian. Sometimes, the player may also encounter undead moglin ghosts, demons, or phantoms. They are all experts in magic, especially healing and rejuvinating and they are never reluctant to use it on needing creatures, whether good or evil (though they very rarely use it on evil.)

They are also sometimes nuts, especially when scared (but then again, aren't we all?) and sometimes break the fourth wall.

They have a remarkable ability to swim with their ears, because their other appendages are too short.

They like to eat about any amount of anything (except each other) and highly value fish, ice cream, or fish ice-cream.

Sometimes, they follow adventurers around to heal them, give them advice, or just be protected; such is the case with Twilly. Overall, they are magical creatures that are happy to help.

Appearances in AdventureQuest

Moglins like appearing all over AQ, including the towns and a few quests. The most popular moglin is Twilly, who will heal the player, give him/her quests, and sometimes follow the player as a guest. Twilly's gender is disputed by players, however Artix has stated that Twilly is male (despite his girlish/childish behaviour and appearance).

He part-times as the teacher for new players and gives them a full rundown of all the basics of playing the game. Twilly is also seen on Robina's Monster Hunt, Ring of Malinius, many events, etc.

Another popular moglin is the "ebil" moglin-mage Zorbak. He is seen in some quests, and many special events. For example: He lets you fight yourself on Mogloween and he has a hand in stealing the Frostvale gifts.

Another place where moglins make a famous appearance is the vampire/werewolf wars, where you have to save them from being devoured by both vampires and werewolves (obviously).

One of the moglins, Chico, will follow the player on his/her quest to rid his/her self of vampirism or lycanthrophy.

There are also moglins in Graemor, Mogliween, Frostvale, and the Guardian Tower.
